Well looks like this election was a big win for Labor – but why?
My personal take is 3 main things – Trump, Gina, and renewables vs coal+nuclear.
Trump is so on the nose that all over the world people with similar views to him are being shown the door.
In Australia our own Trump is Gina Rhinehart, who is fairly blatantly driving the Coalition and doing everything possible to block renewables – despite public sentiment and the worldwide evidence that it works.
Labor has a plan dubbed Future Made in Australia, which aims to bring manufacturing back to Australia, in particular in green tech. It remains to be seen if they have enough time in power to entrench it and start products being built before team Gina can take over again.
There’s a chance as at present the Liberals and Nationals have fallen apart as a coalition, and either are far less powerful alone.
