I recently received an email from my uni asking for donations towards scholarships for the underprivileged. No brainer – I can afford to and consider it a worthy cause.
However when I follow the process and select one off payment, suddenly the offered minimum is over $60! I noped out, and I wonder how many other donors do so when the ask is ever climbing.
It reminds me of US tipping culture – at what point does it pass the tipping point where people can no longer stomach the mislead/grab, and instead the institution or organisation misses out on getting any money at all.
