My posts about the U8 Smartwatch seem to have struck a chord, and I’ve had some people contacting me about how to get it working with their android devices. I’d like to address that here to save people some time/hassle.
The BTNotification app I mentioned earlier is an apk file, which means it’s for installing the app on an android phone or tablet, not an iPhone or iPad (though I believe someone has developed it for those), and not on a PC. As it’s an APK file (not installed through Google Play) ytou need to allow your device to install it. On most modern versions of android that can be accessed via Settings > Security > Allow Unknown Sources.
Also once the app is installed if you want to push app notifications to your phone you’ll need to allow the app to do that. On most modern versions of android that can be accessed via Settings > Accessibility > Services, and also maybe Settings > Security > Notifications.
The app only needs to be installed on your android device – there is nothing to install on the watch. Once the app is installed it’s simply a matter of binding the watch to the android device (the normal bluetooth way) and presto.
