Whoops. I started to experience odd behaviours in my node-red home automation tonight – it seemed to keep forgetting saves I’d made. I SSH’d to the VM to investigate. It kept seemingly randomly booting my session. I figured it was having a segfault and worried about SSD corruption.
However a session to the VM from the host was stable and the VM itself seemed untroubled. Finally it dawned on me that 1) I had a clone of the VM on my laptop Hyper-V host from developing it, and as a back up in case the main died, and 2) my laptop had had a blue screen yesterday. Checked, and ‘lo my laptop Hyper-V VM was also running, both expecting to be the same IP.
